[Saba Sports News] During the third Test between India and England in Rajkot, an unforgettable moment unfolded not only for Sarfaraz Khan, who was making his eagerly anticipated Test debut for India, but also due to a special musical performance by the Barmy Army. Renowned for their unwavering support of the English cricket team, the Barmy Army introduced a memorable twist to the event.
Amidst the excitement, a Barmy Army member, armed with a trumpet, played the iconic “Kal Ho Naa Ho” movie theme song as Sarfaraz took his stance. The tune resonated throughout the stadium, captivating those in attendance.
This musical homage was prearranged, with the Barmy Army obtaining approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its secretary, Jay Shah, through social media outreach, ensuring their performance could proceed during the game.
Despite the surprise serenade, Sarfaraz Khan remained undeterred during his debut, putting on a strong performance with a 62-run innings. Unfortunately, a miscommunication with Ravindra Jadeja led to his run-out, cutting short what promised to be a more significant contribution. Sarfaraz, at 26, aims to make the most of his next opportunity in the Test match’s second innings.
