[Saba Sports News] On Thursday, March 14, Sri Lankan cricketer Lahiru Thirimanne was involved in a severe car accident in Anuradhapura’s Thirapanne area, resulting in minor injuries. The collision with a lorry led to significant damage to his vehicle, creating a distressing scene.
Fortunately, Thirimanne, who retired in 2022, sustained no serious harm, much to the relief of his supporters.
The incident has raised concerns among fans, as Thirimanne was a key player during a crucial transition period in Sri Lankan cricket, stepping in as a prominent left-handed batsman after the era of Sanath Jayasuriya and TM Dilshan.
His early promise secured him a regular spot on the team, eventually taking on leadership roles and becoming a mainstay in the batting lineup following Dilshan’s retirement.
