[Saba Sports News] In a recent interview with the
media, Red Bull young driver Liam Lawson expressed his disappointment at not
being able to secure a seat in Formula 1. Lawson, who is part of the Red Bull
young driver program, shared his eagerness to compete in F1 but acknowledged
that he has not yet been able to secure a place. Last year, Lawson participated
in five F1 Grand Prix races as a replacement for the injured Ricciardo and
achieved a commendable 9th place finish in the Singapore Grand Prix. However,
for the 2024 season, Red Bull decided to maintain their existing lineup and did
not choose to promote Lawson. Regarding the situation, Lawson stated, “To
be honest, I still feel like a rookie, but this year, I can only do some
simulator work, and that’s about it.” Lawson, a 21-year-old emerging
talent, joined the team in the middle of the 2022 season as a reserve driver
for both Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri (formerly Toro Rosso). Additionally, he
is currently competing in the Super Formula Championship, where he holds the
second position in the standings. Overall, Lawson is regarded as a young driver
with great potential, and it is anticipated that his skills will continue to
develop in the future.
