Sports News] Prior to the recent Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and
Borussia Dortmund, Dortmund’s CEO, Watzke, attended the game as a spectator. In
the end, Bayern suffered a 0-2 defeat at home. However, an unexpected incident
occurred after the match. Watzke, in an attempt to relieve stress, lit a
cigarette and began smoking. This action may lead to a violation since smoking
is prohibited in the stands of the Allianz Arena. The stadium regulations
strictly forbid smoking, including all types of cigarettes. Watzke joined
Dortmund in 2001 as the financial director and gradually rose to hold
significant positions within the club due to his outstanding performance. Four
years later, he assumed the role of CEO, overseeing the team’s daily
operations. Besides being the CEO of Dortmund, Watzke holds various other
positions. He serves as the chairman of the supervisory board of the German
Football League (DFL) and is a member of the UEFA executive committee.
