[Saba Sports News] Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant is altering his off-court business team by ending his association with longtime agent Jim Tanner, reports Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN.
Tanner has been Morant’s agent since he joined the NBA in 2019 and was instrumental in securing Morant’s five-year, $197 million contract that same year. This shift in representation follows roughly a year after Morant was involved in two gun-
related incidents, resulting in a substantial suspension. There’s no direct link suggested between Tanner’s departure and Morant’s previous off-court troubles, although it may lead to speculation.
With Morant sidelined for the rest of the season due to a torn labrum, he’s now in the process of looking for new representation, a significant decision given his career’s pivotal juncture and his anticipated comeback in the 2024-25 season.
