[Saba Sports News] DeMarcus Cousins has joined an international basketball team, the Taiwan Beer Leopards, as announced on their official Facebook page this Monday. Cousins expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity, looking forward to entertaining fans in Taiwan.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Cousins’ contract spans four games over ten days, with the 33-year-old expected to join the team around mid-January. This marks Cousins’ second international stint, following his time with the Puerto Rican Professional Basketball League’s Guaynabo Mets earlier this year.
Previously, Cousins played in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets during the 2021-22 season, averaging 8.9 points and 5.5 rebounds over 31 games. Since then, he has been exploring opportunities to return to the NBA without success.
A 4-time All-Star, Cousins has faced several major lower-body injuries in recent years, affecting his career trajectory. He experienced his prime with the Sacramento Kings, who picked him fifth overall in 2010, before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2017. His career faced challenges shortly thereafter due to injuries.
