[Saba Sports News] After an extended anticipation, Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan marked his Test debut on the first day of the third India vs England Test at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. At 26, Sarfaraz introduced himself to international cricket by tying for the second-fastest fifty by an Indian debutant, achieving it in 48 balls. His promising start, however, ended at 62 (66) due to a mix-up leading to a run-out with Ravindra Jadeja.
The event was significant for Sarfaraz and his family, with his father Naushad Khan and wife Romana Zahoor supporting him from the stands throughout his performance. Sarfaraz married Romana on August 6, 2023, in Jammu and Kashmir, starting a new life chapter in the valley.
Romana, originating from Shopian in Kashmir and reportedly a BSc student, met Sarfaraz through a family connection and quickly developed a close relationship. Her marriage proposal to Sarfaraz led to their union with both families’ approval. During Sarfaraz’s cap presentation by Anil Kumble, Romana’s emotional reaction highlighted the moment’s significance.
Sarfaraz’s father also shared in the emotional moment, expressing his pride and hope for his son’s success. The day concluded with Sarfaraz receiving a supportive video call from his brother Musheer Khan, who congratulated him on his performance and shared his anxious moments during the game. Despite missing a century in the first innings, Sarfaraz remains hopeful for a second chance to bat.
