[Saba Sports News] Speaking with reporters on Sunday ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ game against the Dallas Mavericks, star Anthony Edwards made a bold statement. He promised to be much more aggressive in Game 3 and take significantly more shots.
“Y’all going to see tonight … It’s going to be a lot of shots,” Edwards said.
With Minnesota down 0-2 in the series after losing the first two games at home, they need a more assertive Edwards. In Game 2 on Friday, Edwards shot 17 times but made only five of those attempts and often deferred to backcourt partner Mike Conley in the fourth quarter.
Edwards has one of the best first steps in the league, and his aggressive play could create more opportunities for his teammates. While Dallas might counter by double-teaming Edwards and forcing him to pass, a more Edwards-centric offense could be the right adjustment for Minnesota, especially after Edwards faced criticism for his Game 2 performance.
