[Saba Sports News] The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly interested in adding another future Hall-of-Fame point guard to their roster.
According to NBA correspondent Marc Stein, the Clippers are potential suitors for multi-time All-Stars Chris Paul and Kyle Lowry.
“The Clippers, I’m told, should be added to the list of teams that could emerge as a suitor for potential free agent Chris Paul. … I nonetheless heard this week that Paul and Kyle Lowry, whose free agency is looming after finishing last season in Philadelphia, are veteran guards said to interest the Clippers,” wrote Stein on his Substack report published Sunday.
Paul, who played six seasons for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017, made five All-Star teams and earned three 1st-team All-NBA nods during his time with the team.
However, the Clippers’ chance of landing Paul depends on whether the Golden State Warriors decide to keep him. Paul’s $30 million salary for the 2024-25 season is only partially guaranteed, and given his declining play and the Warriors’ salary cap situation, they might not hold onto him.
The Clippers are also waiting on Russell Westbrook’s decision this offseason. The former MVP has a $4 million player option to exercise before the end of next month.
The Clippers face many questions in the coming months, including potential deals to re-sign free agents Paul George and James Harden, despite signing Kawhi Leonard to a long-term extension.
