[Saba Sports News] The Golden State Warriors may be looking to downsize this summer.
Evan Sidery of Forbes reported that the Warriors are expected to “actively” shop forward Andrew Wiggins in trade talks this offseason. The team aims to offload the 29-year-old Wiggins due to the emergence of 21-year-old forward Jonathan Kuminga.
Wiggins, an All-Star in 2022, played a crucial role in the Warriors’ NBA championship that year. However, his production has significantly declined in recent seasons, partly due to personal issues causing him to miss time. In 2023-24, Wiggins averaged a career-low 13.2 points per game with 45/36/75 shooting splits.
While trading Wiggins may be challenging due to his decreased value and the $85 million owed to him over the next three seasons, several teams showed interest in him recently. Exploring the market for Wiggins could be worthwhile for Golden State.
