[Saba Sports News] Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports that former NBA All-Star guard Rajon Rondo is being considered for an assistant coaching role with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are overhauling their coaching staff after firing head coach Darvin Ham and letting go of all his assistants.
Rondo, 38, announced his retirement as a player last month after 16 seasons. He was a four-time All-Star, four-time All-Defensive Team member, and two-time champion, winning one of those titles with the Lakers in 2020. Rondo played for the Lakers from 2018-20 and again from 2021-22, alongside stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Rondo, who played point guard throughout his career, is seen as a natural fit for coaching. While the Lakers are considering more experienced candidates, there should be a spot for Rondo if he performs well in interviews.
