[Saba Sports News] English football legend Roy Keane recently shared an intriguing revelation in an interview regarding his past encounter with Alfie Haland, father of current Manchester City star Erling Haland. Specifically, he addressed the incident involving a foul on the elder Haaland. In his autobiography, “Keane’s Autobiography,” it was claimed that Keane had intentionally fouled Haaland. However, during the media interview, Keane refuted these claims, stating, “The autobiography was ghostwritten. I did not express those words when I wrote it. There is a clear distinction between hurting someone and causing someone to be hurt, 100%.” This incident occurred during the 2001 Manchester City derby, where Keane, a star player for Manchester United, committed a tackle that resulted in serious injury to Haaland. The latter was unable to play a full game again and was ultimately forced to retire, leaving a lasting impact on many Manchester City fans. Regardless of the controversy surrounding the foul, it serves as a reminder to respect opponents, adhere to the rules, and avoid engaging in similar malicious behavior in sports.
