(sabasports report)Italian central defender Leonardo Bonucci, 37, will retire at the end of the season, the Turkish football club Fenerbahce has announced.

“It’s great to be part of this family,” Bonucci said. I have always tried my best to show my best on and off the pitch, but the most important thing is that we have the final game tomorrow. I want to finish my career with a trophy and we have a chance to be champions tomorrow. Thank you all.”
Bonucci, 37, came through the Inter Milan academy and has played for clubs including Inter, Bari, Juventus, AC Milan and Union Berlin during his career. He joined Fenerbahce in January without a visa.

Bonucci enjoyed a stellar career, particularly at Juventus, where he was the backbone of the team’s defence and won several Serie A titles. His retirement marked the end of an Italian football legend. Bonucci is hoping to cap his career with a trophy in Fenerbahce’s final game.
