[Saba Sports News] Darvin Ham may have been fired by the Los Angeles Lakers after two seasons as their head coach, but he remains sought after for assistant roles.
NBA reporter Marc Stein noted on Sunday that the Phoenix Suns attempted to hire Ham for Mike Budenholzer’s staff. However, Ham declined, choosing not to jump back into coaching immediately. This decision led the Suns to hire David Fizdale instead.
Ham has also reportedly received interest from the Golden State Warriors, though he has not joined their team.
Given the rapid turnover of head coaches in the NBA, Ham could be considered for future head coach positions. This might explain why the 50-year-old isn’t rushing to return to an assistant role.
Ham led the Lakers to the playoffs in both of his seasons, though the team was eliminated by the Denver Nuggets each time.
