[Saba Sports News] Pirelli, the exclusive sponsor of F1 tires, provides 1,800 tires for each race, with a total of around 40,000 tires consumed throughout the year. Among these tires, the Pirelli P Zero series slick tires and Cinturato series rain tires are renowned for their smooth surfaces. The design of these tires has remained consistent over the past decade, with the hard compound being white, medium compound being yellow, and soft compound being red. The C0-C5 classification refers to the tire formula, with a higher number indicating a softer tire that offers better grip and lower operating temperatures but wears out faster. For instance, white tires have four formulas, yellow tires have C1-C5 formulas, and red tires have C2-C5 formulas. For each race, Pirelli collaborates with the FIA to select the most suitable tire formula based on the race requirements. Recently, Pirelli Motorsport chief Mario Isola revealed plans to introduce a C6 compound tire in 2025. This tire compound is specifically designed for street racing to minimize the risk of tire overheating. The C6 compound tire is reported to be softer than the existing red C5 compound, and Pirelli aims to encourage teams to utilize a combination of one-stop and two-stop strategies.
