[Saba Sports News] Valtteri Bottas, the Polish driver for the F1 Sauber team, recently shared on his social media that he took part in the UNBOUND Gravel ultra-long distance cycling race. He cycled 174 kilometers on a gravel road and enjoyed the experience. He expressed his joy and announced his second-place finish in the men’s 30-39 age group. The UNBOUND Gravel Cycling Race, held from May 31 to June 2 in Emporia, Kansas, USA, is known for its extreme difficulty and breathtaking natural scenery. It attracts cycling enthusiasts and professional athletes from around the world each year, making it the toughest gravel event worldwide. Formerly known as Dirty Kanza, the race is held in the Flint Hills area of Kansas. It features stages of varying distances, ranging from a short 40 kilometers to a highly challenging 320 kilometers. The race route navigates through rural roads in the Flint Hills, which primarily consist of gravel roads. The conditions of the roads are complex, and participants face unpredictable weather conditions such as heat, heavy rain, and strong winds, adding to the race’s difficulty. With no fixed supply stations along the way, participants must come prepared with sufficient supplies and repair tools. Completing the race requires a combination of technical skills, physical strength, tactical understanding, and mental fortitude.
