[Saba Sports News] In a conversation with former Celtics player Brian Scalabrine, 26-year-old Jayson Tatum addressed the perception of him as a one-dimensional superstar. Tatum acknowledged fans’ misconceptions but emphasized there’s much more to his game than scoring.
“Everybody? No,” Tatum replied when asked if people see the nuances of his game. “It’s not their fault. People want to see me score 35 every night, but there’s so much more to basketball and what I bring to the table. I can’t force people to understand everything I’m doing. I just go out and play the game I love.”
Tatum, who played at Duke University, has become one of the NBA’s top young stars and is now positioned to win his first NBA championship. Averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game, the 6’8″ forward led the Celtics to the best regular-season record and an impressive playoff run.
Despite this, Tatum has faced criticism for not excelling in defense, rebounding, and passing like his peers. He’s been working to change this narrative, showcasing his all-around game.
