[Saba Sports News] After his son achieved the deepest playoff run of his NBA career, Karl Towns Sr. is enjoying some success of his own. Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic reported that Towns Sr., father of Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, has secured a notable coaching position. He has been hired as the head coach of St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J.
Karl-Anthony Towns, a four-time NBA All-Star, previously starred at St. Joseph, leading the team to state titles in 2012, 2013, and 2014, and earning accolades such as Gatorade National Player of the Year and McDonald’s All-American.
Towns Sr. had a brief playing career at Monmouth College before coaching for 15 seasons at Piscataway Magnet School in New Jersey. He stepped away in 2014 to support his son’s NBA aspirations. Now, he returns to coaching at the high school where his son made his mark.
