[Saba Sports News] Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd couldn’t avoid addressing the obvious regarding the Boston Celtics exploiting his team’s defensive weaknesses in the first three games of the NBA Finals.
On Thursday, Kidd credited the Celtics for their ability to “hunt” for favorable defensive matchups. While he didn’t mention Luka Doncic by name, the implication was clear.
“That’s what the Celtics are very good at doing, is making sure when they go hunting, they get the guy that they want,” Kidd said.
Doncic, who is playing hurt, has always had questionable defense. The Celtics have taken advantage of his injury and defensive struggles, contributing to their 3-0 lead in the series.
This is Doncic’s first NBA Finals, and it’s proving to be a learning experience. He has faced significant criticism for his defense and demeanor during the series. Kidd may not explicitly call Doncic a liability, but the message is evident.
