The four-time Warriors champion caused a major stir on Friday with his latest social media activity. Thompson unfollowed the Warriors on Instagram and deleted almost all team-related content, including classic Warriors moments, as reported by KNBR in San Francisco.
This comes as Thompson, turning 35 next season, approaches unrestricted free agency. Despite being a lifelong Warrior, there are serious doubts about whether Golden State, a luxury-tax team needing to reduce payroll, can offer Thompson the contract he desires. Concerns are valid, given his multiple serious lower-body injuries and a recent decline in performance.
Several outside suitors have already shown interest in the five-time All-Star, including one with whom Thompson reportedly shares mutual interest. With free agency opening on June 30, the pressure is mounting for the Warriors.
