[Saba Sports News] The Minnesota Timberwolves had their deepest playoff run in two decades, but there are concerns about their ability to keep the full squad together next season.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported Saturday that the Timberwolves are worried about losing veteran forward Kyle Anderson this offseason. Anderson, 30, is set to become an unrestricted free agent after spending the last two seasons with Minnesota.
A key figure off the bench during the Timberwolves’ Western Conference Finals run, Anderson averaged 6.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. Though his stats aren’t flashy, his 6-foot-9 frame, defensive prowess, and ball-handling skills as a lead second-unit creator added significant value.
Anderson is poised for a lucrative contract this summer, but the Timberwolves may not be able to afford him. With significant long-term money already tied up in their frontcourt and a potential payroll cut from the incoming ownership group, Minnesota might have to prepare for life without “Slow-Mo.”
