(sabasports resport) Having secured the fate of Erik ten Hag, Manchester United embarked on an overhaul of its roster. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has focused not only on acquisitions but also on selling to tackle the team’s huge payroll. Adjusting the player’s salary structure is more important than the transfer fee.

United have confirmed that Varane and Martial, who are paid £350,000 and £250,000 a week respectively, will leave when their contracts expire at the end of the month. Although the departures did not result in any transfer fees, they saved £30m a year.
Britain’s Manchester Evening News reported that Sir Ratcliffe is also looking to sell at least five highly-paid players, including 32-year-old Casemiro. Casemiro earns £350,000 a week and United are hoping to sell him to the Saudi Arabian professional League to settle the wage issue and secure a significant transfer fee.
The Tigers’ former partner Eriksen, who earns £150,000-a-week, will also leave this summer. The Denmark star scored in the opening game of the European Championship, helping to find a new club. United is willing to accept no transfer fee in order to facilitate a deal.
The £39m “parallel” van de Beek will certainly not stay. Efrankfurt have dropped a £10m buy-out clause, leaving United to find a new home for him. The burden on the Dutch midfielder, who earns £120,000 a week, also needs to be lifted soon.
By clearing out the highest-paid players, United will not only save money on its payroll, but also make room for new signings to put the team on a stronger footing for the future.
