(sabasports report) Romania got off to a flying start at Euro 2024 with a 3-0 thrashing of Ukraine in the first round of Group E. Former CSL goalkeeper Nicolae Stanciu opened the scoring with a stunning goal before Răzvan Marin and Dragos Grigore scored twice in a short period of time in the second half to clinch the win. Dennis Man had two assists.

The two teams have won three of their six meetings in history, with Romania scoring 14 goals and Ukraine 10. The entire Ukrainian team entered the pitch wearing the national flag. Reaching a speed of 116 kilometers per hour, Stanciu became the first Romanian international to score a sports goal in a European Championship final since Marius Munteanu in 2000.
