[Saba Sports News] Jrue Holiday is enjoying his success after the Boston Celtics’ NBA championship victory. The Celtics secured their 18th franchise title by defeating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night. This win marked the second career championship for Celtics guard Holiday, who previously won with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.
Holiday received an additional bonus. Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported that Holiday earned a $1,183,200 bonus due to the Celtics’ title win. According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, this was the sixth contract bonus Holiday earned with Boston this year, bringing his total incentives to $2.8 million on top of his roughly $35 million base salary.
Holiday, a six-time All-Defensive selection, played a pivotal role for the Celtics this season. He averaged 14.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game in the Finals, with an impressive 54/42/100 shooting line, making crucial plays on both ends of the floor that helped Boston clinch the title.
At 34, Holiday wasn’t thrilled about being traded by the Bucks last summer, but it turned out well for him in Boston, although his wife faced a minor inconvenience during the Game 5 clincher.
