[Saba Sports News] Chris Paul has recently been associated with both of Los Angeles’ NBA teams. However, one team seems more interested than the other.
Paul has a year left on his contract with the Golden State Warriors, featuring a $30 million salary for the 2024-25 season that’s not fully guaranteed. The Warriors have until June 28 to decide on retaining the 12-time All-Star.
If Paul enters free agency, both the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers are reportedly interested in him.
However, according to a report by NBA reporter Marc Stein published Sunday, the Lakers’ interest in Paul is not unanimous, despite his friendship with LeBron James.
Paul and James have been linked since they were spotted together on a banana boat in 2015. Yet, James may not be as keen on assembling a team with his friends as he was in his younger days.
The Warriors might also consider keeping Paul with the potential of trading him later.
Paul, approaching his age-39 season and coming off his least productive year, still provided value off the Warriors’ bench. He averaged 9.2 points, shooting 44.1% from the field, along with 6.8 assists and 1.2 steals.
