[Saba Sports News] In the final stage of the Austrian F1 Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris collided while fighting for the lead. Norris eventually suffered a puncture, and his car sustained significant damage, leading to his retirement from the race. Verstappen, on the other hand, dropped from the lead to fifth. Video replays showed that Verstappen’s defensive actions were questioned and criticized by fans for being too aggressive. In response, Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo came to the defense of his former teammate Verstappen, believing that the criticism towards the three-time F1 world champion was unfair. Ricciardo stated that last weekend’s accident was a result of competitive racing and not reckless driving. He believed that incidents like this were likely to happen during a race, but the outcome of this particular incident made it appear more exaggerated. Some fans mentioned that Verstappen’s aggressive racing style, particularly his defensive actions during braking, has been under scrutiny since his intense battle with Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton in the 2021 season. However, there have been no serious incidents in previous races, and it is believed that Verstappen may adjust his driving style following this accident.
