[Saba Sports News] LeBron James was a big fan of the Los Angeles Lakers’ second-round pick and feels similarly about their first-round selection.
At USA Basketball camp on Saturday, James praised the Lakers’ draft class, particularly first-round pick Dalton Knecht. He described Knecht as his second-favorite college player last season, after Bronny.
“Dalton, besides Bronny, was my favorite player in college basketball,” James said. “I admired his shooting, athleticism, height, and demeanor. I always believed his game would translate to the NBA. I didn’t think he’d fall to 17, so I didn’t expect we’d have the chance to draft him.”
Knecht was a breakout star for Tennessee, averaging 21.7 points per game and shooting 39.7 percent from three-point range. If he can bring those skills to the NBA, he should be a solid fit for the Lakers.
While Knecht may not become LeBron’s favorite Laker draft pick, he has already made a strong impression.
