[Saba Sports News] The Detroit Pistons are taking a cue from their NFL counterparts.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the Pistons have hired Kevin Burleson as an assistant coach under JB Bickerstaff. Burleson previously served as head coach of the Houston Rockets’ G-League team and had assistant coaching roles with the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Kevin Burleson, who also had a brief NBA playing career with the then-Charlotte Bobcats, is the older brother of former NFL receiver Nate Burleson. Nate, who played for the Detroit Lions from 2010-13, expressed excitement about the hire, noting that another Burleson was now in Detroit.
Kevin’s addition follows the Pistons’ recent hiring of a former Los Angeles Lakers head coach for Bickerstaff’s staff.
