[Saba Sports News] The anticipation for the T20 World Cup 2024 is mounting as the event, scheduled to start on June 01 in the West Indies and the USA, is just four months away. The opening match will see the USA take on Canada, marking the commencement of the ninth edition of this global cricketing spectacle. In preparation, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched a promotional campaign, highlighting the sale of tickets for the tournament.
A 30-second promotional video, circulated across ICC’s social media platforms, revisits some of the memorable moments from the previous T20 World Cup. Among these highlights is Virat Kohli’s unforgettable six against Haris Rauf at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the 2022 edition, a shot that has since become a significant moment in Indian cricket history. This clip, in particular, has sparked considerable excitement among fans, leading to widespread sharing on social media.
Kohli’s six came at a pivotal point in the match against Pakistan, with India needing 28 runs from the final eight deliveries. Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, Kohli hit Rauf for two consecutive sixes, drastically changing the course of the game. Kohli’s unbeaten 82 off 53 balls, featuring six fours and four sixes, was instrumental in India’s last-ball victory, with Ravichandran Ashwin scoring the winning runs.
Indian supporters are eager for Kohli to replicate his form in the upcoming tournament, especially during India’s opener against Ireland on June 05 and the highly anticipated match against Pakistan on June 09 in New York.
Regarding ticket sales, the ICC has introduced a ballot system to ensure a fair distribution process, allowing fans to apply for up to six tickets per match from February 01 to 07.
Following the ballot, successful applicants will be notified and provided with payment instructions. Unpurchased tickets will be made available to the general public on February 22, sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
