[Saba Sports News] Seven-time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher’s son, Mick Schumacher, is currently racing for Alpine in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) but has not secured a seat in F1. In response, 1997 Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve stated that signing Mick Schumacher is a risk for any team because everyone “expects” Mick Schumacher to have improved since his time with the Haas team. Villeneuve believes the root of the problem lies in Mick Schumacher’s experience in F1, as “the evidence is right in front of us.” In the 2022 F1 season, Mick Schumacher was involved in multiple incidents, particularly serious crashes in Saudi Arabia and Monaco, which resulted in extensive repairs, with total repair costs exceeding $3 million, the highest among all F1 drivers that year. Despite Mick Schumacher and his team’s best efforts, it seems no one is willing to bring him on board. As a result, since being dismissed by Haas at the end of 2022, Mick Schumacher has only been able to serve as a backup and development driver in F1.
