The victory helped the U.S. women’s basketball team to its eighth consecutive Olympic title and gave the U.S. team its 40th gold medal, tying China in gold MEDALS. France won the silver medal.

In the game, Wilson contributed 21 points and 13 rebounds, becoming a key figure for the United States. Kelsey Plum added 12 points and four assists, Kahleah Copper contributed 12 points and five rebounds, Breanna Stewart scored eight points, Napheesa Collier added seven points and 11 rebounds.
For France, Gabby Williams stood out with 19 points and seven rebounds. Marine Johannes and Geraldine Ayayi scored nine points each, while Iliana Rupert contributed eight points and six rebounds, Alexia Chartereau also had eight points.
