(SabaSports) Dirk Nowitzki recently appeared on the Thanalysis Show podcast to reflect on the experience of beating the Miami Heat in the 2011 Finals.

“The Finals were still very tough that year,” Nowitzki said. I often say we were a bit lucky because we met them in their first year as a team. They had just come together and were not stable enough. I don’t think they’ve figured out who’s going to take over in the clutch. Is it LeBron James, Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh? But at the same time, we had a very good team that year, we played well together, and it was our year.”
Nowitzki also pointed to the Mavericks’ postseason performance: “In the playoffs, we beat the Trail Blazers with LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy, and the defending champion Lakers, and we won two games in Los Angeles, which gives us a lot of confidence.”
