[Saba Sports News] Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, out of action due to an ankle injury incurred in the 2023 World Cup match against Bangladesh, postponed his comeback for the T20I series against Afghanistan for a more thorough recovery. Now focusing on IPL 2024 as the appointed captain of Mumbai Indians, Pandya has been actively updating fans about his fitness routine on social media during his rehab. His anticipated return is expected to boost both Mumbai Indians and the overall excitement of the IPL.
While India played its first Test against England in Hyderabad, Pandya was seen honing his bowling skills in the nets, offering a glimpse of his prowess in white-ball cricket and sparking excitement among supporters. This update on his progress, coupled with the news of his captaincy role for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL season, has heightened expectations among his followers.
Hardik, expressing his sentiments, regarded the ground as sacred, reflecting on its role in his 17-year cricket journey and vowing to give his best.
“I’m feeling very good after coming back here. I treat (this ground) as a temple, because the amount of things I’ve learnt on this ground, it’s like a temple for me. What it has taught me is priceless. My journey started literally 17 years back on this very ground. I will make sure everything possible today, and every day,” Hardik shared.
He is poised to lead Mumbai Indians, having been transferred from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash deal. Succeeding Rohit Sharma as captain, Pandya, who was Rohit’s vice-captain during the 2023 ODI World Cup, previously steered Gujarat Titans to victory in their debut IPL season. The 30-year-old has made a significant impact in the IPL, with over 2,300 runs and 53 wickets in 123 matches.
