[Saba Sports News] Team USA star Kevin Durant showed he’s still a force during the 2024 Paris Olympics, but even someone as exceptional as KD knows his basketball career won’t last forever.
With 17 NBA seasons behind him, Durant has begun contemplating retirement. The four-time Olympic gold medalist opened up about it on Sunday’s episode of “Raising Fame” on TV One.
“As I get older and the league gets younger, I think about retirement more,” Durant admitted to hosts Sonya Curry and Lucille O’Neal. “It creeps into my mind for sure.” While Durant has various interests, he hasn’t made any concrete post-retirement plans yet, though he intends to “stay around the game.”
Durant acknowledged that retirement would be a “huge transition” for him.
Despite his age, Durant remains in top form, averaging 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists last season while shooting 52.3% from the field and 41.3% from beyond the arc. His unique blend of shooting and size could allow him to play for years to come.
While the timeline for his retirement is uncertain, Durant is already starting to make moves off the court following the Paris Olympics.
