(SabaSports) According to previous reports, the Golden State Warriors tried to negotiate with the Los Angeles Lakers to acquire LeBron James before the NBA’s trade deadline in February. However, reporter Marc Stein revealed that the key reason why the deal did not get off the ground was the strong opposition of James’ agent, Rich Paul.

Sources say Warriors owner Joe Lacob and Lakers owner Jeanie Buss have spoken about the potential deal. Meanwhile, Warriors player Draymond Green has been actively lobbying for James to join the Warriors. However, the negotiations never progressed, mainly because Rich Paul did not want James to move teams again and avoid the negative impact of a fourth team change.
In the end, James chose to re-sign a two-year, $104 million extension with the Lakers this summer.
