[Saba Sports News] Nikola Jokic might be playing a bigger role in shaping the Denver Nuggets’ roster. Veteran NBA writer Marc Stein reported on his Substack that the Nuggets are interested in acquiring veteran guard Vasilije Micic from the Charlotte Hornets.
Micic, who is a close friend of Jokic and his teammate on the Serbian national team, made his NBA debut last season after a successful European career, including two EuroLeague championships and a 2021 MVP award.
Micic, 30, showcased his playmaking and scoring abilities as Jokic’s running mate during the Paris Olympics, where Serbia won the bronze medal. With the Nuggets needing backcourt help after Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s departure to Orlando, Micic could be a good fit.
However, they would need to negotiate a trade, as Micic is under contract with the Hornets for $7.7 million next season with a team option for 2025-26. This potential move aligns with Jokic’s influence, as he previously lobbied for another acquisition earlier this summer.
