[Saba Sports News] Did you know that Max Verstappen’s and Sergio Perez’s chief mechanics Matt Caller and Jon Caller are twin brothers? With the Dutch F1 Grand Prix approaching, The Telegraph interviewed this pair of twin brothers. It is reported that Matt has been responsible for Verstappen’s car since this season, while Jon serves as Perez’s mechanic. Their responsibilities include accompanying drivers during times outside of free practice and qualifying and deciding when cars can leave the pit lane. Because they are twins and look exactly alike, there are still people in the team who cannot tell them apart. Although they are twins, their lives are completely different. Jon is already a father of three children and admits that the busy racing calendar is a burden; Matt enjoys the fun that comes with racing. During their time away from home, younger brother Matt is always by Jon’s side, which helps Jon greatly. They can talk about anything and understand each other’s problems. Although both Jon and Matt have served as mechanics on Verstappen’s car before, they now serve as chief mechanics for two different drivers simultaneously. Therefore, in some ways, they are also competitors. Matt stated that they have had competition between them since childhood, whether it was at bars on Sunday nights or on F1 tracks; they always want to beat each other anytime and anywhere. Jon stated that as a chief mechanic for a driver, his main task is to create order from chaos and maintain an overall perspective while making important decisions under pressure.
