[Saba Sports News] Dwight Howard’s legal ordeal regarding allegations of sexual assault and battery by Stephen Harper has concluded, with Harper dropping the civil lawsuit, as reported by ESPN.
According to court documents obtained by ESPN, the civil lawsuit against former NBA star Dwight Howard alleging sexual assault and battery was dismissed on Monday in Gwinnett County Court, Georgia. Stephen Harper, who initially filed the lawsuit in July 2023, dismissed all claims with prejudice, meaning they cannot be refiled.
The lawsuit was originally filed when Howard was close to signing with the Golden State Warriors. Despite Draymond Green hinting at Howard’s workout with the team, the lawsuit led the Warriors to explore other options, leaving Howard out of the NBA.
The lawsuit stemmed from a July 2021 incident where Harper alleged Howard performed nonconsensual oral sex on him and attempted to force a threesome with another individual. Howard did not deny the events but maintained that all actions were consensual, making the lawsuit unfounded.
Although the lawsuit has been dismissed, it seems unlikely that an NBA team will sign the 38-year-old Howard, who last played for the Lakers in the 2021-22 season.
