[Saba Sports News] Russell Westbrook may be entering his 17th NBA season, but he’s still the new guy with the Denver Nuggets.
According to Nuggets writer Harrison Wind, Westbrook recently asked teammate Christian Braun if he could take the No. 0 jersey. However, Braun, who has worn the number since being drafted by the Nuggets in 2022 and was part of their 2023 championship team, declined the request.
Braun, 23, is significantly younger than the 35-year-old Westbrook, but both have strong ties to the No. 0. While Westbrook has worn it throughout most of his career, he’ll now have to pick a different number for his time with the Nuggets.
Despite this initial jersey number standoff, Westbrook and Braun are expected to be key contributors off the bench for Denver next season.
