Venky Jois and William Navarro, who missed the game because of injuries, combined for 44 points and 21 rebounds, while Tolentino added 23 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Batang Pier got off to a strong start and completed a shutout lead win.
NorthPort was more dominant than its 112-97 win over the same opponent in its opening game, ending A two-game losing streak and improving to 3-3 for a Group A draw.
“We lost two games in a row, so the coaching staff, especially Coach Bonnie Tan, talked to the whole team about how to deal with the two losses,” said assistant coach Rensy Bajar, who took Tan’s place in the post-match interview.
“The main thing we asked for today was the energy of the players, the willingness to defend from the start, defend the opponent and control the rebounds, and today’s game proved that we did that,” Bajar added.
