Sports News] The British media reports that Premier League CEO Richard Masters
has been asked to clarify his comment that “Nottingham Forest and Everton
are small clubs.” During a session in front of the Culture, Media and
Sports Committee on January 16, Masters used this term when discussing the two
clubs, which have both faced allegations of breaching profit and sustainability
rules. The committee chairwoman, Caroline, expressed concerns about Masters’
remarks, suggesting that they raised broader questions about the treatment of
big clubs versus other clubs in terms of league regulations. The committee
members have requested further clarification on whether there is differential
treatment between big clubs and others when it comes to the league’s Profit and
Sustainability Rules (PSR). They also questioned the Premier League’s role in
overseeing clubs, finding Masters’ assertion that the charging and penalty system
is entirely independent of the Premier League to be
“incomprehensible.”
