[Saba Sports News] Test cricket resumed in India as England faced the hosts at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium for the first Test starting January 25. Discontent emerged among some English fans, who had traveled to witness the match, over inadequate washroom and drinking water facilities at the venue, highlighted in social media images.
Spectators are barred from bringing items deemed harmful, including certain chemicals, specific drugs, laptops, cameras, flags, and sharp objects. Additionally, water bottles are prohibited for security reasons.
English spectators expressed discomfort due to these restrictions and highlighted unhygienic conditions of the public toilets and the lack of packaged drinking water.
The stadium, located in Uppal, previously faced criticism for poor seating during ODI World Cup matches. In response, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) implemented changes like online ticket sales, free admission for army personnel and school students, and improved seating.
Recently revamped for the ongoing Test, the venue even skipped some Ranji Trophy matches to ensure readiness. With three days remaining in the match, there’s still an opportunity for the association to address these concerns for fans who invest significantly to watch their favorite teams compete.
