[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, the Premier League is investigating abuse and death threats against renowned referee Anthony Taylor. Taylor issued a record 14 yellow cards to players from both Chelsea and Bournemouth during last weekend’s match. After the game, there were online threats to kill Anthony Taylor and harm his family. Taylor is scheduled not to officiate any Premier League matches this weekend but will serve as the fourth official for Southampton vs Ipswich and Brighton vs Nottingham Forest matches. In one instance of abuse directed at Taylor, a social media user wrote that he “should be killed; I’m not joking,” adding: “This guy should really die.” Another person added: “Anthony Taylor, I will find your family.” Others absurdly celebrated the idea of Taylor and his family “being found dead at home.” Such abusive behavior has been reported to the Premier League through an official dedicated system. Each case will be reviewed and reported to relevant social media companies for investigation, with legal action taken when appropriate.
