[Saba Sports News] Los Angeles Clippers fans are once again facing concerns over Kawhi Leonard’s health.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Leonard underwent surgery on his right knee this offseason and will be limited to knee-strengthening exercises as training camp begins. Leonard had just completed his healthiest regular season in years, playing 68 games—the most since his 2016-17 season with the Spurs.
However, knee issues resurfaced during the Clippers’ postseason, limiting Leonard to just two games in the first-round series against the Dallas Mavericks. He struggled, averaging only 12.0 points on 45.8% shooting and missing all five of his three-point attempts.
The same injury also kept Leonard off the Team USA roster for the Paris Olympics.
While Clippers officials are reportedly “optimistic” about Leonard’s recovery, head coach Tyronn Lue had sounded even more positive about his status just last month.
