[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada informed staff that the club aims to win the Premier League title in 2028 to commemorate its 150th anniversary. Berrada joined Manchester United from Manchester City last June and spoke at a staff meeting last Wednesday about the “150 Plan”: Manchester United was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath before changing its name in 1902. Additionally, Berrada expressed hopes that the women’s team would also win their first championship that year. Speaking with ambition rather than entitlement, he acknowledged that this goal would require effort. Reports suggest that this statement caused dissatisfaction among some employees due to previous layoffs where approximately a quarter of 1,000 employees were let go; long-time employees felt particularly disheartened and lost. However, others were excited about the club’s renewed focus on sporting prospects.
