Outside aid Rayshaun Hammonds was a big worry for San Miguel, as the 6-foot-9 University of Georgia player scored 39 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead his team to a win over PBA Commissioner’s Cup champion San Miguel.
Hammonds, 25, added seven points during a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter that pushed Suwon KT Sonicboom to 87-75 to seal the win.
EJ Anosike had 34 points and seven rebounds for San Miguel, while June Mar Fajardo added 19 points and nine rebounds. Although San Miguel still led 43-39 at the end of the first half, it was unable to defend the advantage.
It is worth noting that the 25-year-old Anosic played for Sonicboom in 2022, his first overseas experience.
