[Saba Sports News] The Detroit Pistons opened their preseason with a dominant 120-87 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite trailing by 18 points in the first quarter, the Pistons fought back, largely thanks to rookie Ron Holland II’s impressive bench performance. Head coach J.B.
Bickerstaff praised Holland, calling him “awesome” for his ability to change the game and boost the team’s energy without needing plays called for him.
Holland, the No. 5 overall pick in 2024, delivered 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists in 25 minutes, showcasing hustle on offensive boards, quick transition play, and strong defense. He energized the crowd at Little Caesars Arena with a second-quarter steal turned breakaway layup.
The Pistons excelled in their team-based approach, with six players scoring in double figures. Jaden Ivey led the way with 22 points, shooting 6-8 from the field and 3-3 from beyond the arc, also hitting 7-9 free throws.
Detroit shot 46% from the floor and racked up 31 assists on 43 field goals, emphasizing ball movement and off-ball cuts to create open looks.
Defensively, the Pistons held Milwaukee to 34.9% shooting and forced 24 turnovers, which they converted into 21 fast break points and 56 points in the paint.
The performance was a promising start to Detroit’s preseason, highlighting their focus on team-oriented, complementary basketball.
