[Saba Sports News] NBA enthusiasts were shocked early Tuesday by the news of the Milwaukee Bucks dismissing their head coach, Adrian Griffin. Shortly thereafter, a surprising update emerged: the Bucks reportedly found a new head coach.
During their NBA broadcast, the Turner Sports team announced that Doc Rivers has been hired as the Bucks’ new head coach. Interestingly, TNT’s announcement referenced CNN Sports, a source not widely recognized in sports journalism.
Rivers’ name had been connected with the Bucks’ coaching position throughout the day, following Griffin’s firing. However, this development hadn’t been confirmed by leading NBA reporters like Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania at that time.
Additionally, Bill Reiter from CBS Sports mentioned that there was no finalized agreement between Rivers and the Bucks.
Interestingly, Rivers has already been involved with the Bucks in some capacity. The Athletic reported on Tuesday that he had been serving as an informal consultant for Milwaukee since their semifinal appearance in the In-Season Tournament.
Rivers, 62, boasts a long coaching career with teams like the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, LA Clippers, and Philadelphia 76ers, including a championship win with the Celtics in 2008. Despite his successes, his recent reputation has been marred by a series of playoff lead losses.
