[Saba Sports News] Kawhi Leonard has been recovering from a knee injury for several months and won’t be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Ohm Youngmisuk, Leonard will be sidelined indefinitely due to inflammation in his right knee.
Leonard, 33, has faced ongoing knee issues in recent years. Despite playing 68 regular season games last year, a knee problem limited him to just two games in the Clippers’ first-round playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks.
Leonard had also planned to play for Team USA at the Paris Olympics but withdrew due to his injury. Reports indicate that he underwent another surgery recently.
While Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue was optimistic about Leonard’s recovery in August, this latest update raises doubts about his ability to reach full strength this season. The Clippers are set to face the Phoenix Suns in their season opener at the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood on October 23.
