[Saba Sports News] The FIA announced yesterday that F1 engine suppliers Honda and Renault have been penalized for violating budget cap regulations. This is the first penalty concerning engine suppliers since the implementation of budget cap rules for the 2026 power units. Honda has been fined $600,000, while Renault has been fined $400,000. The FIA revealed details in its penalty announcement, including that both suppliers acted dishonestly or fraudulently, concealed key information, and even gained advantages through violations. Additionally, the FIA disclosed the main differences in the violations committed by the two engine suppliers. Renault was penalized for incomplete information disclosure; Honda was penalized for keeping its actual costs within the budget cap limit through various methods, which means Honda’s violation is classified as procedural, and its nature is considered much less severe than that of Renault’s engine. Therefore, Honda’s fine is higher than Renault’s.
